Group Think

I talked with my group and these are the notes I took
  • Uses shadow in each stanza of the "Eldorado" poem
    • Each use of the shadow represents something different
  • The first stanza is a literal shadow of the time of day
  • The second time is used to express his old age
  • The pilgrim's shadow in the third stanza is most likely a ghost or death
  • Last one is where the ghost tells him the only way to get to his dream (Eldorado) is through death
  • Apparently the way Po wrote the poem in a way that makes it sound like a horse galloping (something to do with the stresses of the syllables)
Really enjoyed the discussion. Getting less surprised at how poetry is actually fun and interesting and less about education and more about emotion. Hope I continue reading after senior year is over.
